Broncos and Chris Harris Jr. closing in on a deal for 2019Slowly but surely, the Denver Broncos are figuring out how to solve the Chris Harris Jr. contract situation. Mike Klis of 9News provided a quick update on Sunday that the two sides had spoken over the weekend and that they were inching closer to a deal for 2019.He went on to note in a later post that there is ‘cautious optimism’ a deal will get done before the team begins their final part of the OTA program on Wednesday and before the teams three-day mandatory minicamp next week.Harris is scheduled to be the third highest paid defensive back on the roster Shane Ray Jersey , so a deal to fix that should have been the first thing John Elway did after free agency. Instead, the team looked at its aging future Broncos Ring of Famer as expendable beyond this year, so good on Harris for forcing the team to pay him more for one last ride in the Orange and Blue. The deal currently being worked out is reportedly a one year adjustment to Harris’ pay. It will likely make him the highest paid defensive back on the roster, but will also leave him with no contract beyond 2019. It’s a bummer for fans that it looks like this will be the last season he’ll be in Denver, but no one will disagree that its been one hell of a ride for all of us. Hopefully we’ll get the news Harris is back officially this week. Update: Frederick Lyles basically lets everyone know that Klis is full of it. The drama continues.
